When do the CMW Rides take place?

CMW Rides take place throughout the year. We usually start on Sunday mornings, typically around 9:00 AM during the summer season and around 11:00 AM during the winter months. You can find an annual schedule of our rides at www.cyclingmyway.ch/rides (subject to change). To make sure you don't miss any exits or plan changes, it's best to follow us on social media: www.instagram.com/_cyclingmyway_/www.facebook.com/cyclingmyway/www.strava.com/clubs/cyclingmyway/ Or subscribe to our CMW calendar (www.cyclingmyway.ch/kalender) to always have all rides displayed in your agenda. We update the calendar regularly. Details for each CMW ride will be published on the aforementioned platforms no later than the Wednesday before the ride. Am I fit enough to participate in the CMW Rides?

Accepted Answer

Yes! On our group rides, the focus isn't on performance, but on the social aspect. We always adjust our pace so that everyone can easily keep up. No one is too slow with us. The only thing you can go too fast with us is going too fast. Of course, even if you're a well-trained, hardcore cyclist, you're welcome to join our rides. But don't expect a training ride. If you're not up for a leisurely ride, you won't have any fun. For serious riding, you're better off sticking to the CMW Rides. E-racing bikes are very welcome.

Where is the meeting point for the CMW Rides?

The CMW Rides generally start and end on the Münster platform in Bern.For special events, different meeting points may apply. Yes! Everyone is welcome on our group rides. Regardless of gender. Regardless of your experience. Beginners and hardcore cyclists are all welcome.

What do I need to bring to the CMW Rides?

You should bring this to every CMW Ride:Helmet – nobody rides without a helmet with usBring a spare inner tube and enough food.Always carry some cash with you for safety (for coffee & cake).To avoid busy roads, we gladly accept short gravel sections. However, 99% of our kilometers are covered on paved surfaces. A road bike is perfectly suited for our rides. A gravel bike will also do the job well. We advise against all other modes of transport.

What rules of conduct do I have to follow when participating in the CMW Rides?

The most important rules on our outings are as follows.Everyone wears a helmet.We adhere to all traffic rules, including traffic lights and traffic signs – even when in a group.We appeal to your personal responsibility – do not endanger anyone through risky behavior on the road – including yourself.We support each other and don't make fun of anyone.We want to be perceived as a friendly cycling group.Please review the complete code of conduct .

What type of bicycle can I use to participate in the CMW Rides?

Road Rides: To avoid busy roads, we gladly accept short gravel sections. However, 99% of our kilometers are covered on paved surfaces. A road bike is perfectly suited for our rides. A gravel bike will also do the job well. We advise against all other modes of transport.​Gravel Rides: On our gravel rides we try to avoid tarmac roads. Not because we don't like them but we have our road rides to celbrate them. We rather through in a few singletrack sections. Most of the rides will be on beautiful, fast rolling gravel, though. A gravel bike is perfectly suited for our rides. A cross-country mountain bike (XC MTB) will also do the job well. We advise against all other modes of transport.​

Am I allowed to participate in the CMW Rides with an e-racing bike?

Yes. E-racing bikes are very welcome.

Am I allowed to participate in the CMW Rides with a mountain bike or city bike?

Accepted Answer

Road Rides: Unfortunately not. Without a road bike or gravel bike (and their e-versions) you won't enjoy our rides.Gravel Rides: For our gravel rides, a lightweight cross-country mountain bike (XC MTB) is ideal. A city bike won't get you through the trails. In short: XC MTB = yes. City bike = no.

Is the CMW calendar automatically synchronized?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The CMW calendar is managed by us and automatically updates the data on your device. This requires that you have subscribed to our calendar according to the instructions (www.cyclingmyway.ch/kalender) . On your device, you can also configure how frequently the calendar should be synchronized with our data. It's best to select the option to synchronize every change immediately.Important: Synchronization can take up to 24 hours. If you want to be sure the calendar is up to date, update it manually.
