CMW Rides. Code of Conduct
1
CMW Rides are not races. Our goal is to have fun and enjoy a good time together. We wait for each other. No one is too slow. You can only be too fast. In which case, you ride as fast as you are willing to wait.
2
Even though we ride as a group, traffic regulations apply to us at all times. For example: we stop at red lights, respect right-of-way rules, and ride on the right-hand side of the road. We try to pass intersections and traffic lights together as a group whenever possible.
3
When sharing the road with cars, we ride no more than two abreast. A compact formation creates the least obstruction for other road users. Always keep a safe distance. Drafting is great, being able to brake safely is even better. Nobody brakes sharply without reason. Hold your line, look ahead, and ride predictively. In short: no stunts or risky behaviour.
4
We want to be perceived as courteous and respectful cyclists. Even if we are in the right, we treat other road users with politeness. Shouting achieves nothing. Offensive gestures even less.
5
We warn each other about upcoming obstacles and hazards (traffic lights, railway crossings, potholes, bollards, etc.) using clear verbal commands and hand signals. You will quickly learn the standard signals once you start riding with a group.
6
CMW Ride Leaders are connected via radio and wear a single earpiece for this purpose. Listening to music or making phone calls while riding is not permitted for either Ride Leaders or participants.
7
Helmets are mandatory for all riders.
